Amoena “Clarkia”

This is an annual winter flowering plant ‘Clarkia’ while ‘Amonea Clarkia’ stands for the popular garden species name out of several others, belongs to ‘Onagraceae’ family. The name came after explorer Willam Clark who discovered it; some of the members of this species are from genus ‘Godesia’ which now no longer being recognised. It grows up to 3 ft or little more, leaves are small and gives abundance of flowers having four sepals and petals, colour ranges from white, pink, red, lilac etc. Also garden Clarkia is available in hybrid and dwarf varieties.

Grow: After seeds germination, the seedlings transplant to prepared beds or pots, although it requires care and better to sow seeds at growing place. It prefers sandy soil, best at full to partial sunlight, moderate watering, and pinch to encourage bushing. After a fortnight apply schedule organic fertiliser and preventive sprays at intervals to watch delicate blooms, an excellent cut flower variety.
