Balanced 'Cosmos'

Writer: Atanu ChatterjeeAtanu Chatterjee

It’s a common herbaceous, annual & perennial flowering ornamental plant from ‘Asteraceae’ family. The word Cosmos came from the Greek means a ‘balanced universe’ that is orderly, beautiful, and ornamental. The flowers fragrance and various colors attribute modesty. The leaves of the plant is pinnate or bi-pinnate and arranged in opposite pairs, while the flower capitulate surrounded by ring of ray florets and central disc florets, generally about 1-3 inches. Now a day the hybrid variety comes with quality shades and dwarf height producing numerous blooms

Grow: It is grown either from seedlings as easily available or may germinate. One of the easy growing species and better suited at beds on prepared soil, proper drainage and full sunlight exposure. It does not require much care and responsive to moderate fertilizer. The height of the plant varies from 1 to 4 ft and can have different solid flower colours

Scientific Classification: Kingdom: Plantae; Unranked: Angiospers, Eudicots, Asterids; Order: Asterales; Family: Asteraceae; Subfamily: Asteroideae; Tribe: Coreopsideae; Genus: Cosmos (Source: Wikipedia) … for correlation
