The name "Gladiolus" is derived from the Latin word "gladius" which means 'sword' basically refers to the leaf shape and do symbolize honor and remembrance, precisely belong to ‘Iridaceae’ family, a classic perennial winter variety; usually blooms are glorious and attractive flowers available in wide range of color and shades, it also stands for strength of character and faithfulness


Grow: Gladiolus grown from bulb generally obtained from nursery; do create impressive background in a garden bed. Have grass like foliage and flowers open in long spikes. Gladioli like full sun, fertile and well brained soil, space 4-6 inches and the height of growth is 2-4 ft long, takes about three months to root, grow and bloom. It is one of the favorite species for appearance in the bouquets and floral display
