Pepaver 'Poppy'

The flower ‘Poppy’ is name in Latin or English and ‘Pepaver’ is the genus name, considered as the symbol of remembrance of soldiers who have died during wartime. It also symbolizes beauty, magic and consolation, considered to be a garden ornamental plant. However, there is oriental ‘Opium Poppy’ (Pepaver somniferum) from which opium and poppy seeds are derived, where the pollens is dark blue. Garden Poppy is herbaceous perennial plant having medicinal property and edible seeds.

Grow: Poppy is commonly grown for colorful flowers during winter although short lived, easy growing, requires full sun, moderate watering and fertility of soil. It can be 2 to 4 ft. tall, flowers have 4 to 6 petals with black center, single or double leaf and available in different colors too, do bears mild sedative effect, can be used for dye and other purposes.
