Tropical “Ixora”

A common flowering evergreen shrub of garden variety the binomial name is ‘Ixora Coccinea’ ( or jungle geranium, flame of woods etc) out of few hundred species, which is from ‘Rubiaceae’ family and suits landscape beauty as permanent plant. It rises up to 4/5 ft or more with dense and multi branched, even tend in get rounded form, have leathery leaves and easily identified with large clusters of small tubular flowers of different shades. In this subcontinent, it is known by different names, as we recognise it as Rangan as well as Rugmini.

Grow: The small plant is available at every nursery outlet; the colour preference is optional, generally propagated from cuttings, expose to sunlight and should apply fertiliser on intervals. This grows better under rich soil, moist condition but avoid sunlight during summer time. The leaves have medicinal property and flower offer to deities.
